Enamel Shaping: A Quick And Painless Process
What Is Enamel Shaping?
Enamel shaping is a process by which Dr. Holmes uses a sanding disc to carefully remove small amounts of tooth enamel, then polishes the area. At Holmes Orthodontics, we perform this procedure alongside orthodontic treatment, when necessary.
When Is Enamel Shaping Done?
There are a few different circumstances that make enamel shaping a great option, such as:
- Removing overlapping areas
- Smoothing out rough spots
- Eliminating minor chipping
- Contouring pointy edges
- Correcting minor discrepancies in size
Are You A Candidate For Enamel Shaping?
Not all dental problems can be solved with enamel shaping, but it is a great option for improving the appearance (and in some cases even the function) of teeth with smaller imperfections. Dr. Holmes will evaluate the need for enamel shaping as part of your comprehensive orthodontic treatment plan.
