Enamel Shaping: A Quick And Painless Process
What Is Enamel Shaping?
Enamel shaping is a process by which Drs. Holmes & Palmer uses a sanding disc to carefully remove small amounts of tooth enamel, then polishes the area. At Holmes & Palmer Orthodontics, we perform this procedure alongside orthodontic treatment, when necessary.
When Is Enamel Shaping Done?
There are a few different circumstances that make enamel shaping a great option, such as:
- Removing overlapping areas
- Smoothing out rough spots
- Eliminating minor chipping
- Contouring pointy edges
- Correcting minor discrepancies in size
Are You A Candidate For Enamel Shaping?
Not all dental problems can be solved with enamel shaping, but it is a great option for improving the appearance (and in some cases even the function) of teeth with smaller imperfections. Dr. Holmes & Dr.Palmer will evaluate the need for enamel shaping as part of your comprehensive orthodontic treatment plan.
